Who We Are

We're almost all strictly local, and have been all our lives. (Except of course for Bert, who was never local anywhere.) Some of us grew up in old-fashioned Vermont kitchens - a few of us are related, and all grew up in the same kitchen! Some of us found the pleasures of cooking later in life. However we got here, making good food in small batches is what we love to do. You could say that we've all found a home here at VermontSpecialtyFoods.com.

Around this time of year, some of us are eating game, while others among us stick to squash and root vegetables. No matter what we favor, we all depend on the delicious sauces, dressings, and condiments that we prepare right here to make dinner easy and dependably delectable.

Marge St. Sauveur is our featured cook right now. Like everyone else at Vermont Specialty Foods, Marge can do just about everything that needs doing around here. But she really shines when it comes to quality control. When its Marge's turn to inspect bottle seals and taste-test batches of Vermont Maple Barbecue Sauce, we can all rest assured that the day's production will be satisfactory in terms of quality, if not in terms of quantity -- she takes forever to make up her mind.

Marge lives in Wilder with her mother-in-law. Things get kind of electric around there sometimes. Her favorite product is the Clarke Brothers Original Maple Rosemary Grilling Sauce, which she uses to much acclaim as a dipping sauce with cold leftover roast pork.
